R.I.P. Lilith Fair

| Filed under: Music MinuteSarah McLachlan

Sad! But we suppose it had its time!

Sarah McLachlan announced today that after attempting to revive Lilith Fair last year to bad ticket sales, she will no longer be running the female-fronted music festival!

She explains:

"Bringing the same thing back last year really didn't make any sense, in retrospect, without due diligence being done on how women have changed. In 12 years, women have changed a lot. Their expectations have changed, the way they view the world has changed, and that was not taken into consideration, which I blame myself for."

Inneresting points!

However, fear not, female music lady fans, she DOES hope to update the venue sometime in the future by "carrying forth the ideas from Lilith and maybe doing something new and different."

Nice! We DO like the sound of that, and are looking forward to how this re-imagining will manifest itself!

Sarah McLachlan's New Tour

| Filed under: Music MinuteSarah McLachlan

Sounds cool!

Sarah McLachlan won't stop touring after Lilith Fair as she's announced a brand new tour for November called "Sarah and Friends."

The first set of the show will feature Sarah sitting in on songs with her guest performers and the second set will have Sarah singing her greatest hits and new songs from her latest album Laws of Illusion.

There will also be an interactive element to the tour with the audience getting the opportunity to submit questions when they arrive and Sarah will choose randomly which ones to answer throughout the show!

Love it!

Check out the dates… after the jump!

Are You Bored, Sarah McLachlan?

| Filed under: TV NewsSarah McLachlan

Or did the less than impressive turnout at Lilith Fair this summer force you to look into new avenues of expression?

If that's the case, we think you've made a serious wrong turn!

Sources are reporting that Sarah McLachlan will be a guest-star on a crossover event between The CW shows Life Unexpected and One More Season, Really? Tree Hill.

Sarah will be playing herself and performing her new single, Forgiveness, while some of the characters of the two shows will interact in a way that makes sense.

We'll pass. OTH was so ten years ago and we can't help but sit through this Life Unexpected show half hoping that Joey Potter is going to roll up in a black Jeep Wrangler with Max Evans to break up Liz and Jack.

Or, you know, something like that.

Will U be tuning in for Sarah's BIG guest spot?

Heading To Australia!

| Filed under: Music MinuteAustraliasticSarah McLachlan

Lilith is going Down Under!

The 2010 Lilith Fair will continue in Australia this October as a Taste of Lilith with shows in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Sarah McLachlan, Dixie Chicks spin-off the Court Yard Hounds and Kate Miller-Heidke and the Verses will perform.

Ticket prices are still high though at $149 and $222 in Australia.

Pretty steep, Sarah! Especially considering that's why many people didn't show up to the concerts in the US!

Lilith Fair A Charity Success!

| Filed under: Music MinuteInspirationSarah McLachlan

Well there's an upside!

Even though this summer's Lilith Fair had to cancel a lot of dates because of poor ticket sales, the tour raised over $500,000 for North American charity organizations!

Sarah McLachlan says:

"I have a moral and social responsibility as a human being to give back what I can. Lilith 2010 was an amazing experience for me on so many levels. It felt so great to be back out on the road and sharing the stage with so many talented women. For me, Lilith has always represented a sense of community, and that's the greatest thing I take away from these shows.

"To be able to create an environment where both established artists and up-and-comers can join together, learn from one another and feed off each other's energy is such a great gift."

Silver linings!
