The legend has spoken — and he makes a great point, too!
In response to the ongoing #OscarsSoWhite controversy over the past few weeks, Sir Ian McKellen spoke on Monday to reporters with a message of warning: disenfranchisement isn't only happening along racial lines.
The Lord Of The Rings star expressed sympathy for black actors angry about how the Oscars have snubbed them, both recently and historically.
But the acting legend also cautioned that it wasn't just black actors receiving the short end of the Academy Awards' focus, having himself been nominated twice:
Well this is awkward.
However, it seems the Material Girl's tardiness wasn't even the weirdest thing that went down at the concert. Reportedly, after a fan proposed marriage to her while she was on stage, Madge took that opportunity to throw some MAJOR shade at ex Guy Ritchie.
The Like A Virgin singer stated:
This is crazy — but pretty darn inneresting, too.
Sean Penn spoke to Charlie Rose for an interview that will air on CBS' 60 Minutes on Sunday night, and it's all about the actor's meeting with Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the notorious Mexican drug kingpin.
In the interview, Penn reveals that he was certain it wasn't his article in Rolling Stone that led to El Chapo's capture.
In fact, Penn believes that the Mexican government has been scapegoating him to the drug cartel because law enforcement officials were so embarrassed Penn found the drug lord months before he was recaptured after escaping prison in July!
Check out a teaser clip of the interview (below), shown on CBS This Morning on Friday, to see if Sean is scared for his life:
This is certainly a new one.
According to a report in Business Insider Australia, which based their take on a piece in the Mexican publication Reforma, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman had elective male-enhancement surgery sometime last September or October at a Tijuana-area hospital.
The report states that for the surgery — which took place closely before or after the drug kingpin's now-notorious meeting with Sean Penn and Mexican TV star Kate del Castillo — El Chapo received a testicular implant to improve blood flow and fix erectile dysfunction.
The report stated Guzman, who escaped from prison back in July, had to leave his compound in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, citing:
On Wednesday, Mexican actress Kate del Castillo finally broke her silence regarding her involvement in the meet-up between Sean Penn and the drug king Joaquin Guzman, AKA El Chapo.
In case you forgot, after the convict escaped prison back in July, the Milk actor held several interviews with Joaquin — including an in person meeting in October. We can imagine the Mexican government isn't all too thrilled about that!
The starlet took to Twitter to explain in both English and Spanish that the reports weren't as "truthful" as they appear. She wrote:
Now, since everyone has PLENTY of questions regarding this bizarre rendezvous, the actor is enlisting the help of Charlie Rose to share his side of the story!
On Tuesday, the journalist caught a flight to L.A., to meet with the Television Critics Association. Well, that's at least part of the reason he made the trip.
The 74-year-old revealed that the Mystic River star agreed to discuss the narcotics kingpin with him, saying:
Sean Penn is in TROUBLE!
After his controversial little rendezvous with notorious Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman came to light over the weekend, the actor is a man in high demand with government officials who are investigating the interview.
Now, it's not just Mexican government officials, either: the White House has gotten involved in discussing Penn's controversial actions!
White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough spoke to CNN on Monday, telling host Jake Tapper how maddening Penn's interview was to follow:
