Sean Penn Raises $2mil For Haiti…In Cannes!

Sean Penn raises 2 mil

Looks like being pissed off at the world helped...

Sean Penn just raised $2 million for Haiti while at the Cannes Film Festival!

This comes right on the heels of Penn yelling at the world for abandoning Haiti after their 2010 earthquake, and it seems like Penn's and Paul Haggis' idea to fundraise at the even more than paid off.

The event was the first ever for the festival since 1996, and was the first time that three separate charities banded together to help one cause.

The last time the festival did anything like this came in the form of benefit screenings!

The main breadwinner for the charities was the auction. It included a three day trip to Haiti WITH Sean Penn (each of the three bidders who won promised over $128k each!), a Bono guitar, a lunch date with a Victoria's Secret Angel, and VIP access to their 2012 fashion show!

So fab! We're glad that Sean witness that while some people may have forgotten, not everyone in the world has!

Raising awareness again will certainly help people come back around!

Sean Penn Blasts Whole World For Abandoning Haiti

Filed under: Barack Obama > Charity > Sad > Sean Penn

Sean Penn Mad

You do not want to see Sean Penn angry, and he's angry -- he's angry that the media and whole world has abandoned Haiti after their natural disaster.

And he isn't wrong.

Here's what he said:

"It's not only celebrities who went for a day. It's the whole [expletive] world. It's all of you. The reason we have Haiti fatigue is because there was never a commitment in the first place."

He even called upon Obama to meet with Haiti's new President, Michel Joseph Martelly:

"It's time our elegant and formidable president stood side by side [with Martelly]."

While we agree that the media's attention is diverted really easily, we also have to say that there have been other natural disasters to happen outside of Haiti, like the tsunami in Japan. This does NOT excuse abandoning one for the other, but rather, maybe our attention is spread too thin.

And we honestly do not have an answer on how to fix it.

What we do know, is, that there are way too many people in this world who need help, and the only way we can lower that number is to dig in and start helping!

We just all need to do what we can.

John Edwards Asked Sean Penn For Advice During His Sex Scandal!

John Edwards Sean Penn sex scandal advice

Obviously, his advice wasn't very good! LOLz!

In the latest development from John Edwards' campaign corruption trial, former speechwriter Wendy Button told the jury that her boss reached out to his Hollywood friends when shiz hit the fan with Rielle Hunter.

Before delivering an official statement in January of 2010 about the child he had out of wedlock, the Senator had copies sent to Sean Penn, Madeleine Stowe, and director Paul Haggis. Button said DOZENS of revisions were made to the statement before he delivered an apology to the public.

No reason was given as to

Sean Penn honored at peace summit

People are always talking about Sean Penn's humanitarian relief efforts in Haiti, but on Thursday he was finally honored for it.

The actor received the 2012 Peace Summit Award for his work in the foreign country, which includes managing the J/P Haitian Relief Organization AND being the first non-Haitian to be designated an ambassador-at-large for Haitian President Michel Martelly.

While accepting the award in the presence of the Dalai Lama on a Chicago stage, Penn urged for more foreign aid by saying:

Ryan Gosling Film Gangster Squad Delays Release

goslinggangsta.jpg

We won't be seeing these two hotties with the bodies, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, locking lips anytime soon.

The two stars from The Gangster Squad reportedly had a scene involving a sexy make out session, but the film has been pushed back from its original October 12th date to a late, late 2012 release.

Damn!

Why is life so unfair???

Sean Penn Does Something Awesome!

sean penn does something awesome

You've come a loooong way, Spicoli! We are impressed! Ha!

During a recent dinner party at his house, Sean Penn sat down with one of his friend's dates, who happened to be an Iraq war veteran.

The vet opened up to Sean about his massive medical bills, and the actor/activist listened intently and took him very seriously.

Here's what a source had to say about it:
