A chartered plane carrying a first-division Brazilian soccer team to the biggest game in its history crashed in the northwestern Colombian mountains on Monday night, killing 76 of the 81 people on board.

According to reports, the plane took off from Bolivia and was flying over the small town of La Union at around 10 p.m. when the crew declared an emergency. The plane crashed at around 10:15 p.m. in a mountainous area about 22 miles from the airport.

While it was unclear what caused the crash, local media said the plane had reported an electrical fault shortly before it disappeared off radar screens. Six people initially survived the crash, but one of them died a short time later.

The 72 passengers included members of Chapecoense, a Brazilian soccer team that had risen in popularity to play in one of South America's most prestigious tournaments. The top-league team was scheduled to face off against Atletico Nacional in the Copa Sudamerica finals on Wednesday in Medellin.

It was the first time the relatively unknown team had reached the final of a major South American tournament. On Tuesday, Atletico Nacional offered the championship to Chapecoense.

We all know there's only one real football club in Madrid anyways!

Cristiano Ronaldo isn't just one of the most attractive professional athletes in the world right now, he also happens to be amongst the most talented.

Unfortunately for the Real Madrid forward, his supposed sexuality sometimes takes precedence over his superstar soccer skills — just as it did on Sunday.

Apparently, Cristiano's club faced off against fellow Spanish soccer squad Atlético Madrid over the weekend, eventually winning 3-0.

Well, that embarrassing loss was clearly too much for middle-ground midfielder Koke… because he reportedly resorted to homophobic slurs at Cris' expense to express his overwhelming disappointment in himself.

Before the Portuguese player was able to make his way back to his locker room, Koke butted heads with Cristiano to call him

There's no doubt U.S. women's Olympic soccer player Hope Solo hasn't had the smoothest past few months.

First the police report came out detailing her domestic violence charge, then she came under fire for some Zika tweets, and of course that whole calling Sweden's soccer team "cowards" thing.

Unfortunately for Solo, as a result of her extremely inconsiderate comments regarding her international opponents, the U.S. goalkeeper was not only given a six month suspension from U.S. Women's soccer, but the USWNT terminated her contract with the national team!

Hope was OBVIOUSLY not happy about the decision as we already saw her written response — but the Fullscreen series Keeping Score caught the athlete's frustration moments after the decision was made as the teary eyed brunette exclaimed:

"Seventeen f*cking years and it's over."

Unsportsmanlike conduct is bad, but there's no way it should be comparable to drunk driving.

Yet after Hope Solo called the Swedish soccer team "a bunch of cowards" last week, she was suspended the same amount of time as Michael Phelps was for his DUI!

Almost two weeks ago, the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team's goalie delivered some trash talk after unexpectedly losing to Sweden in the Rio Olympics quarterfinal game, and U.S. Soccer swiftly suspended the athlete over comments that "counter to the organization's principles."
