After 22 years as the host of the Late Show — it's time to bid David Letterman farewell!
And it seems we're not the only ones struggling with saying goodbye to the TV host.
And who's surprised?! The comedian has clocked in more than 6,000 broadcasts in 33 years while on television. WHOA!!
Since Dave couldn't have EVERY one of his former guests on during his final week, many were forced to say their goodbyes on social media — including Sia, Oprah Winfrey, Bette Midler, Jimmy Fallon, Betty White, Ellen DeGeneres, Conan O'Brien, Backstreet Boys, Maroon 5, Seth Meyers, Mindy Kaling, Foo Fighters, and Andy Cohen, just to name a few.
Ch-ch-check out their touching goodbyes (below)!
David Letterman's 33-year reign as the King of Late Night has officially come to an end!
On Wednesday, the TV host signed off from his show, The Late Show, for the last time. We knew his farewell would be one to remember — but we didn't realize we'd have to hold back tears!
The 16-time Emmy winner made sure his send off was both star-studded and incredibly touching! AH-Mazing!
So, let's take a moment to honor the top FIVE moments from the 68-year-old's FIERCE last episode!
What an amazing send off!
David Letterman has been a staple of late night TV ever since he took the desk back in 1993, and now he's being honored in the best way possible.
For Dave's final episode on CBS, we got to see the best bits of his 22 years as host, including an excellent opening monologue and some of his most famous interviews.
But not only was the episode about remembering his best moments, it was also about creating some memorable TV!
A ton of famous faces came out to support Dave; including President Barack Obama and the three POTUSs before him, as well as Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Barbara Walters, and Chris Rock, just to name a few.
It was such an amazing way to celebrate Dave, and we're really going to miss him in late night, but we're excited to see what Stephen Colbert and his team can do in the slot!
Ch-ch-check out Dave's final monologue and Top 10 (above & below)!!!
Leave it to Stephen Colbert to bring some lighthearted comedy and all the laughter in a somewhat dark speech.
But all jokes aside, the comedian took the honor of giving the Wake Forest University commencement speech on Monday in North Carolina.
The former Colbert Report host had some pretty wise words to pass onto the class of 2015!
He said at one point in his speech:
"I just spent many years learning to do one thing really well. I got so comfortable with that place, that role, those responsibilities, that it came to define how I saw myself; but now part of my life is over. It's time to say goodbye to the person we've become … and to make some crucial decisions in becoming who we're going to be. For me, I'll have to figure out how to do an hour-long show every night. And you at some point will have to sleep. I am told the Adderall wears off eventually…
I hope you find the courage to decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong, and then please, expect as much of the world around you. Try to make the world good according to your standards."
