Ever since she first came onto the scene, Meghan Trainor has been all about that self-acceptance!
But years before her success, the pop star actually hid her body as a teenager growing up in the small island town of Nantucket, Massachusetts.
In an upcoming interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the 22-year-old revealed that due to her insecurities, she constantly covered up her body in sweatshirts — even while on tropical vacations!

Speaking to CBS's Tracy Smith, Meghan got pretty candid about her struggles, saying:
"I, every day, wore sweatshirts and sweatpants to cover up my body because I was so insecure, and it would be Summer. And I would go on vacation and I'd be in Trinidad and Tobago, 90-degree weather, and I'd be wearing sweatshirts that said ‘Nantucket.'
I didn't want to show my arms. I didn't want to show anything, and I was just so insecure and uncomfortable, and I thought, like, ‘All right, if I'm fully covered — I'm good. And that's not what I should have been feeling.
I see pictures of my face and… I'm sad, and I'm in a sweatshirt and I'm in my room producing because I just turned off the idea of, ‘You'll be the face.'"
Looking back, Trainor can't explain why she felt that way — and while she always thought she was talented, the singer just didn't think she had the right look to be a superstar.
But after monumental hits like All About That Bass and Lips Are Movin', M.Train became a key role model for young teens going through the same issues that she used to have, saying:
"I get messages all the time, ‘I hated myself, I didn't want to go to school. I was so uncomfortable, and now I love myself. And I was in a really dark place until your song came out.' And I was like, ‘Whoa, man, we've got to do more of these. We've got to do more of these songs."
We're so glad the singer found a way to be confident in her own skin and is using her platform to inspire others to do the same!
