We've been waiting to see Tim Burton's vision of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children come to life for quite a while now!
And if the first trailer tells us anything, it's that the big screen adaptation of Ransom Riggs' hit 2011 novel looks like a whimsical yet creepy X-Men!
Asa Butterfield plays Jake, who uncovers a secret orphanage for children with special abilities, where he learns about his own unique powers and uses them to defeat an evil presence!
We also get a better look at Eva Green playing the titular homeowner, and she definitely has that "scary Mary Poppins" vibe Burton teased…
Ch-ch-check out the magical trailer (above) and go see Miss Peregrine hitting theaters September 30!
Ugh. Well that's a let-down.
However, it looks like Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton won't be reprising their roles, because it turns out the news was completely fake!
The director's rep revealed that the sequel isn't in development after all!
We know this seems confusing, since the initial report featured a quote from the filmmaker himself. However, the 57-year-old's team says those comments were actually made up!
Bummer! We were so excited. Buuuuut just because it's not in development now doesn't mean a followup will never happen, right?!
We can dream anyway!
Over the years there have been a lot of rumors about Tim Burton's classic spooky comedy Beetlejuice getting a sequel.
Now Burton has dropped a MAJOR update — confirming the sequel is definitely happening!
Tim revealed in an interview with ShowbizSpy:
Tim Burton is the undisputed king of whimsical weirdness — and his latest film Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children looks to be no exception!
Based on Ransom Riggs' novel, the upcoming fantasy tale stars Asa Butterfield as Jake, a teenager who tries to get over a family tragedy by embarking on a journey to find a fabled orphanage where his late grandfather said he once lived.
As it turns out, the orphanage turns out to be a mystical gateway to an alternate realm where children with bizarre powers are protected by a magical guardian — played by the wickedly stunning Eva Green!
Burton refers to the Penny Dreadful star's shape-shifting character as a "scary Mary Poppins" — and based on the first visuals, we can totally see what he means!
During his stay, Jake finds a
But it was also a huge loss to fans of great acting!
However, just because the Brit is gone, doesn't mean we've seen the last of him! The prolific Harry Potter star still has two more movies that he made that have yet to be released — Eye in the Sky and Alice Through the Looking Glass!
As you might know, Through the Looking Glass is a followup to Tim Burton's hit movie Alice in Wonderland where Alan voiced the blue caterpillar. In the trailer (below), his magical voice is the first thing you hear.
Ch-ch-check out the first trailer for the Disney sequel (below)!
The box office is strong with this one.
Samuel L. Jackson seems to show up in a TON of movies every year, but that doesn't mean he's the box office champ!
With the massive success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford has officially overtaken the Hateful Eight star as the top-grossing actor in United States' box office history, according to Box Office Mojo.
Even though the box office website marks the Fugitive actor as only having 41 films under his belt — they don't include cameo/voice work or movies without grosses — his movies have grossed an insane
Man, this would have been SO different!
To celebrate the anniversary, screenwriter Caroline Thompson sat down with Variety and revealed some REALLY interesting facts about Burton's classic!
Most innerestingly, Caroline revealed that the film was meant to be a musical — there were even songs! She said:
