Jay-Z's rewriting the rules!
The master of hip hop is back with a WHOLE new album for us to drool over!
And Magna Carta Holy Grail's debut will be a national holiday— literally!
Blue Ivy's daddy announced that his latest beats will be hitting our eardrums this Fourth of July with a Samsung commercial during the NBA Finals Game 5.
YUP! That's less than a month away!
As if we needed reassurance that ANYTHING led by the rapping king couldn't be anything less than EPIC, Jay is bringing out the big guns with the help of Rick Rubin, Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland
But what will our obvious summer anthem be about???!
Ch-ch-check out the 3 minute in-studio look and find out (above)!!!
Say what you want about Kanye West- the man knows how to throw a party!
The controversy and Kim Kardashian-courting rapper unveiled his anticipated new album on a loading dock in NYC's meatpacking district, and for a couple hours, it was the hottest place in the city!
Beyoncé and Jay-Z showed up, as did Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, and Timbaland. Everyone was anxious to hear the new tracks!
So what did everyone think? Well, before reviews come in, all we can do is go by is how it made people feel, and the mood was reportedly ecstatic! Even normally dour-faced Kanye was smiling and laughing. He even tried explaining his work for once! He said:
Move aside Frank Sinatra! Here comes Justin Timberlake!
The Mirrors singer was caught in the recording studio with Jay-Z, Nas, and Timbaland, all thanks to an Instagram photo posted by Def Jam’s Lenny Santiago!
Better yet, Lenny captioned the pic with a reference to the Rat Pack. He wrote:
A musical celebration of women the world over?! Hells yeah!
Pop Empresses Beyoncé & Jennifer Lopez will be headlining a summer concert called Sound of Change Live, and all proceeds will benefit various initiatives — more than 120 projects — that aim to assist/help women and girls in over 70 countries!
Electro-pop darling Ellie Goulding, smooth crooner John Legend, beatmaster Timbaland, ethereal songstress Florence and the Machine, and other to-be-announced acts will perform at the event, which takes place June 1st at London's Twickenham sports stadium.
Lady Bey said in a statement:
Yeah, Justin Timberlake has that much swagger!
While we listen to Mirrors on repeat and wait not-so-patiently for the November release of the second part of JT's 20/20 Experience, we've just gotten word that it's already basically done.
So why is the pop mastermind making us oh-so-painfully wait for those sure-fire smash hits?!?!
Even though he has plenty of unused tracks to throw out to the masses, he also wants to make even MORE musical magic in the studio.
Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon — who collaborated with 20/20 producer Timbaland— spilled:
It seems like Jay-Z has something to say to all those who have been criticizing his recent trip to Cuba…
So obviously, the music icon is delivering his comments in a style fit for the ruling King of hip hop!
Take a listen to Open Letter, featuring Timbaland and Swizz Beatz (above)!
Ohhhh, so Jay went to Cuba cause he really likes smoking cubans! It all makes sense now! LOLz.
Nah, it seems that this lyrical genius is simply trying to say don't succumb to the narrow, spoon-fed view of the world that we are often taught, and that it's SILLY that he had to call in a favor from his bestie Barack Obama so that he could go visit another country…
Especially one that we historically tried to capitalize on.
And if that IS somewhat the message of this track then TRUE THAT, dude!
And the shady saga of Timba’s stolen watch continues…
The producer, who filed a lawsuit against American Home Assurance Company back in January, clearly wants the money “owed” to him for his missing watch after having claimed that his two-year old daughter found and misplaced it.
And yet, it seems A.H.A.C. has no intention of writing any check out to Timbaland. According to the insurance company’s legal docs on this case, they claim several reasons of suspicion regarding Timba’s story:
