After receiving a lot of heat online, the 2 On songstress didn't make an official comment — but began replying to Twitter users explaining that her interview was "taken out of context."
Tinashe is trending on Twitter Tuesday, but not for the reasons she might like!
Following an interview with The Guardian, the Flame singer raised more than just eyebrows after speaking her thoughts on being biracial and the colorism in the black community.
The half Danish and Zimbabwean artist revealed she's completely aware her career has stalled while her album Joyride still has yet to be released. Attributing it to sexism and how it's seen as there can only being a couple of successful black female artists at a time:
"Recently, my cousin was with a friend of a friend, who was in high school, and she was like: ‘I'm a fan of Kehlani,' but in a way that was like, ‘So I can't be a fan of Tinashe, too.' Then my friend posed the question, ‘Why not be a fan of both?' It's kind of like sport; people feel like they have to pick a side. There are hundreds of [male] rappers that all look the same, that sound the same, but if you're a black woman, you're either Beyoncé or Rihanna. It's very, very strange."
But what really had Twitter heated were her thoughts on not fitting in:

As we reported, the cast of Dancing With The Stars season 24 was announced, and we were absolutely thrilled to hear that Fifth Harmony's Normani Kordei will be shaking her groove thang alongside partner Val Chmerkovskiy!
But, we weren't the only ones who cheered the singer on!
After the Work From Home musician shared the (above) pic on Instagram, celeb friends including Zendaya, Hailee Steinfeld, and Tinashe congratulated Miz Kordei on the big news!
Good thing Candace Cameron Bure was raised right -- and dealt with body shaming in more than one very special episode!
The Fuller House star posted a sweet pic with her 18-year-old son Lev (above) on Instagram last week, and rude-as-hell follower wrote:
"All that excersizing, and you still look like you weigh more than your husband, did you change your diet?"
Wow. Such a troll question.
But instead of keeping the focus on her own body, the once and future DJ deftly put the spotlight where it belongs -- on this poor commenter. She wrote back:
