Last week, amidst the Ray Rice scandal, Rihanna's scheduled intro to Thursday Night Football was canceled, for several reasons. They wanted to have a more somber, journalistic approach to the situation, rather than the pop star and Kanye West performing, along with a comedian. Well, that and the fact that RiRi was a part of her own domestic violence scandal.
So, CBS apparently is planning a redux, but Rihanna said, NO! Only in much stronger terms. She tweeted:

You know, because the NFL apparently doesn't feel too strongly about domestic violence, as we learned with this whole Ray Rice fiasco!
Well, it created a PR nightmare for the beauty company, and they released a statement about their partnership with the league, saying:

Well, after the tape of former Baltimore Ravens player Ray Rice beating his wife was released last week, people felt that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell needed to be fired for letting this violence go on, and only giving players a slap on the wrist!
And they used CoverGirl to get their message across!
