Coachella Is Suing Urban Outfitters For Profiting Off The Famous Music Festival's Name!

Coachella

Not today, hipsters!

Coachella just brought down the hammer on Urban Outfitters, Inc. for allegedly trying to capitalize on the famous music festival's name.

The yearly event took their case to federal court this week, arguing that Urban's affiliate Free People is using it's trademark for a number of their products online.

The festival-inspired merchandise includes Free People's "Coachella Boot," "Coachella Mini Dress," "Coachella Pocket Tank" and "Coachella Valley Tunic."

It's important to note that Coachella DOES have an official partnership with H&M, so Urban can't just sling around the name without permission.

The party in the desert is asking for unspecified damages and for UO to stop selling the items in question, while also putting out "corrective advertising" that doesn't "[trade] on the goodwill and fame" of the event by using "Coachella" in product names and search keywords.

Seems fair enough to us!

This is so upsetting.

ICYMI, a transgender customer was not allowed to use their preferred fitting room at Urban Outfitters during a recent visit.

Earlier this week, Nicholas Gorham penned a powerful essay for Mic, detailing the disappointing discrimination they faced when attempting to try on some clothes at the fashion chain.

The actor explained that, while they may physically appear to look like a cisgender male — because they haven't taken hormones, undergone facial electrolysis, and don't have breasts — they are, in fact, transgender, writing:

"I wear basically all women's clothing, makeup, and hairdos and I identify as a gender-fluid trans person. I feel completely free in identifying as trans, though I'm conscious of the fact that others may not see me as such right away."

But, when the New York resident attempted to explain this to an employee at one of Urban's Los Angeles locations, they were pretty much ignored because of "policy" regulations.

While shopping with their gal pal, Tamara, the friends headed towards the women's changing area to try on their finds. The performer explained:

Suicide is never funny!

According to Urban Outfitters, it will no longer carry Anatomicals, a brand of shampoo which poked fun at the serious topic of suicide. In fact, the brand in question offended SO many people, that the retailer had no choice but to pull the offending merchandise from its shelves.

Here's what has shoppers so upset — not only does the bottle packaging make reference to a popular suicide spot in England called Beachy Head, but it also has a questionable message written on the back of the bottle.

In a cheeky attempt to market shampoo via taking one's own life, the packaging reads:

Urban Outfitters asks employees to work for free.

We wonder if the company CEO also volunteered!

An email has emerged showing Urban Outfitters asking its salaried employees to volunteer during the weekends in October to pick and pack merchandise.

That's right, volunteer as in "free!"

Not cool. Especially since many salaried employees already work longer than 40 hours a week without getting paid more.

The Worst Yet!! Urban Outfitters Takes Inappropriate To Disgusting New Level With Blood-Splattered Kent State Sweatshirt — WTF!?!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooFashion SmashionRetail TherapyUrban OutfittersViolenceGIFs

hell no

No. Just no.

Urban Outfitters has found themselves in a LOT of trouble for the inappropriate apparel they've hawked in the past, and they never seem to learn from their mistakes.

They've tried to sell shirts that look like concentration camp uniforms, they've sold tees that glorify depression and gangs, and much much more.

But their latest slip-up just might be the worst one EVER.

The retailer has been selling a faux vintage sweatshirt with a Kent State logo on it, and the fabric appears to be covered in blood stains.

In case you forgot, Kent State was the scene of a bloody massacre in 1970 when four unarmed students were killed by the Ohio National Guard for protesting the Vietnam War. The sweatshirt seems to be a reference to that tragic event.

To see the sweatshirt in question and what Kent State University had to say about it, keep reading:
