The Fate Of The Furious is finally upon us, and it is a big, dumb action movie of the highest caliber!

Reviews may be mixed among critics, but we can't imagine any fan not walking out of this one happy.

If you thought Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was franchise Viagra, wait until you smell what Jason Statham is cooking. He was little more than a Terminator in the last installment, but this time he's at his Crank-ed up best.

And damn if Charlize Theron isn't one hell of a villain! …and so is Vin Diesel. You'll have to see the movie to find out why — but not how high!

See where F8 ranks in the franchise (below)!

You Won't BELIEVE Who Nearly Had Vin Diesel's Role In The Fast & The Furious! (And Other Movies That Almost Had Very Different Stars!)

It's hard to imagine anyone other than Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto in The Fast and the Furious.

But the street racer-turned-international secret agent (man, this franchise cray!) was almost played by someone very different — Justified star Timothy Olyphant!

Speaking on The Bill Simmons Podcast on Wednesday, producer Neil H. Moritz said after finding Paul Walker there was only one piece of the puzzle needed to make the project a go:

"And then we had to look for Dom Toretto. The studio said, 'If you can get Timothy Olyphant to play that role we will greenlight the movie… The luckiest thing that ever happened to us is Tim Olyphant turned us down. He's a great actor. In fact, I'm curious to see what that movie would have been."

Wow. So are we! (We're thinking the studio was happy with his performance as a cop in the previous year's fast car flick Gone In Sixty Seconds!)

But of course, Neil then found Vin, who was perfect for the bad boy boss from the get:

"I went and met him at Kate Mantilini and he wasn't a star yet, but the great thing about Vin is he always believed he was a star. And I was going in there to think he's coming to me to want the role and I'm the one there now having to convince him to do the role! Lucky for both of us that happened."

Lucky for us too, eight movies later! But Furious wasn't the only classic that almost had a completely different cast!

Fate Of The Furious Is Disjointed, Nonsensical, High-Octane Action — And No One's Complaining! See The Fate In Our Review Roundup!

no title

In the span of 7 films, the Fast and the Furious franchise grew from a fast-paced B-action film to a full-blown, star-studded blockbuster franchise — and if Fast 8 is any indication, this series doesn't plan on slowing down.

But from the absence of series favorite Paul Walker to an overcrowded cast of action stars, how did The Fate Of The Furious fare with the backseat drivers of cinema, the critics?

Not so bad, it seems — as the film currently has a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Because nearly every early viewer knew the mindless action they were getting into, and praised the film for raising the bar with even more over the top stunts and explosions! (Dom racing a heat seeking missile? Sure, why not!)

Of course, those who actually paid attention to the story had a laundry list of complaints including: logic-defying action plots, a disjointed narrative, and unfathomable character decisions to make old enemies part of the gang.

Still, critics couldn't help but love Vin Diesel's grunty dialogue and testosterone-fueled one-upmanship between Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham — not to mention series newcomers Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren adding some much needed femme fatalism!

Vin Diesel Seriously Downplays That Alleged Feud With Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson!

Vin Diesel and The Rock

OK…

Back in August, it was pretty clear the mood between Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was extremely tense — but now, the 49-year-old executive producer is saying things are just fine.

In case you need a refresher, the 44-year-old former wrestler drew quite a bit of attention last year when he took to Instagram to SLAM one of his Fast 8 costars (AKA Diesel) for being a "chicken shit" and a "candy ass." Welp.

In a new interview with USA Today, The Pacifier actor addressed the controversy by totally sweeping it under the rug.

Charlize Theron Goes Ultra Glam While Vin Diesel Phones It In For The Fate Of The Furious!

Charlize and Vin hit the red carpet!

The odd couple! LOLz!

Charlize Theron glammed it up for The Fate of the Furious premiere in Germany Tuesday, looking exquisite in a strapless white flare dress with strappy black and snakeskin heels. Elegant, classy, FABOOSH!

Sadly, Vin Diesel didn't get the glam-it-up memo because he showed up in black slacks and a regular old graphic tee that said "Brotherhood" across the top. Nice muscles, btw!

Now, we know men don't always get as dolled up as the women, but a lot of them will put on a nice, sharp-looking suit. It's a premiere, after all! Not a backyard bbq!

We are disappointed in Vinnie.

Charlize, though, you get an A+!
