Vanity Fair Embraces More Diversity Than Usual With New Hollywood Issue Cover Featuring Viola Davis, Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong'o, & More

Vanity Fair releases its annual Hollywood issue.

It's the annual Vanity Fair Hollywood issue!

And we're proud to report that it's a little more diverse than previous years.

The issue is known for almost always relegating actors of color into the foldout cover so they don't appear on the actual front page, but this time Viola Davis gets to share it with Jennifer Lawrence, Jane Fonda, and Cate Blanchett.

Progress, we guess.

The rest of the cover features Lupita Nyong'o, Brie Larson, Charlotte Rampling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alicia Vikander, Rachel Weisz, Helen Mirren, Saoirse Ronan, and Diane Keaton.

There are also gorgeous individual portraits of all the women shot by Annie Leibovitz, which you can find in the gallery (above)!

But first, watch a clip of the women talking about their hoped-for legacies (below):

Someone had to say it!

Idris Elba is killing it so far at the 2016 SAG Awards!

The actor took home TWO awards for his roles in Beasts of No Nation and Luther!

But when he got out on stage for a third time to introduce the Beasts of No Nation's ensemble nomination — he decided to throw some subtle, yet classy shade at the Oscars!

Right after Viola Davis won the trophy for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, Elba went on stage with his costar Abraham Attah and called out the Academy's all-white acting nominees! He said:

"Ladies and gentleman, welcome to diverse TV."

AH-Mazing!

After getting majorly snubbed for Best Supporting Actor with the Oscar nominees this year, we don't think there's anyone better to make that dig!

What did YOU think of the shady moment?

YAS KWEEN!

On Saturday, Viola Davis won the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series award at the SAG Awards for her role in How to Get Away with Murder. AH-Mazing!

We aren't too shocked that Miz Davis took home the prize at the Hollywood event since she won this year's Emmy Award. LOVES it!

However, the competition was certainly steep this year as the 50-year-old was up against Claire Danes in Homeland, Julianna Margulies in The Good Wife, Maggie Smith in Downton Abbey, and Robin Wright in House of Cards. Keep doing you, girl!

Viola Davis Looks Fab But Suffers From Some Fabric Wrinkles On The SAG Awards Red Carpet

SAG Awards 2016: Viola Davis walks the red carpet.

Curse those wrinkles!

This Zac Posen dress on Viola Davis at the SAG Awards is so fabulous, but the wrinkles on the fabric really mar the beauty of it. Unfortunately.

The actress was still gorgeous though, and the details on her dress were exquisite — from the origami folds to the off-shoulder silhouette!

That dusty lilac color was also easy on the eyes.

Are you willing to overlook the wrinkles, Perezcious readers???

Viola Davis Won't Be At The Oscars — But Is She Boycotting?! Find Out What She Says The Real Issue Is!

| Filed under: Film FlickersAwardzOscarsViola DavisControversy

See where Viola stands on the controversy.

Viola Davis is another celebrity who won't be at the Oscars this year. But it's not because she's boycotting!

On Wednesday, the 50-year-old admitted at Elle's 6th Annual Women in Television Dinner that she has other plans for Hollywood's big night, telling Entertainment Tonight:

"'Cause I'm gonna be on vacation."

However, just because the acclaimed actress isn't officially boycotting the ceremony, that doesn't mean she's okay with the lack of diversity in this year's nominations.

But, the gorgeous gal explained that the awards show itself isn't the actual issue at hand, saying:

"The problem is not with the Oscars. The problem is with the Hollywood movie-making system."

The How To Get Away With Murder star elaborated:

"How many black films are being produced every year? How are they being distributed? The films that are being made, are the big-time producers thinking outside of the box in terms of how to cast the role? Can you cast a black woman in that role? Can you cast a black man in that role?"

The fierce female vented that there just aren't enough opportunities available and that's the real root of the problem, dishing:

"The problem isn't even our pay. You could probably line up all the A-List black actresses out there [and] they probably don't make what one A-List white woman makes in one film. That's the problem. You can change the Academy, but if there are no black films being produced, what is there to vote for?"

But despite all the passionate protests from her colleagues, the lovely lady isn't pressuring host Chris Rock to bail on his duties, adding:

"Like I said, the Oscars are not really the issue. It's a symptom of a much greater disease. But if he does [host], I hope he takes it as an opportunity to make a statement, a social statement about change. It's 2016."

We think that would be a good way for him to keep his commitment and still make a statement! What do U think, Perezcious readers?
