As for why Edgar decided to assault the eatery, it all ties back to a FAKE NEWS story (known as #PizzaGate) circulating around the Internet around the time of the election.
According to the bogus #PizzaGate reports, Hillary Clinton and her former campaign chair John Podesta have been running an "elite" pedophile ring out of the eatery for years. Some conspiracy theorists have even gone on to claim there are "tunnels" underneath the restaurant to accommodate child trafficking.
Take a look at some of the FALSE claims made by trolls — and the son of Donald Trump's incoming security advisor (below):
According to a report in the New York Times, the death toll is currently at 24 people (up from nine victims as of yesterday), and yet first responders have still only searched somewhere around one-fifth of the entire building.
Not only that, but officials told the Times that they don't yet believe they are even close to where the fire started — and they expect many, many more bodies as they are able to search deeper into the structure.
With audible gasps coming from audience members at various points throughout her charity auction night, Madonna ripped into The Donald several times, even going so far as to say she was "ashamed to be an American" because of his election and rise to power.
She also re-told a story of doing a photo shoot in a bedroom at one of Trump's resorts in Palm Beach years ago, and recounted jumping into his bed for it (below):
The President-elect last night tuned in for Saturday Night Live, as he apparently often does, and after seeing himself spoofed by Alec Baldwin on the show, The Donald took to Twitterto deliver a VERY strong (haha, jk) message!
To boot, Oakland's Mayor Libby Schaaf and Planning and Building Director Darin Ranelletti revealed at a press conference late yesterday evening that a complaint had been made recently about "unpermitted construction" taking place in the warehouse just a few weeks ago.
Officials were still investigating that claim as the fire broke out on Friday night.
The fear, of course, is that because the structure is so unique — and perhaps dangerous — it could have trapped far more people inside than what would happen in a typical fire of this type, and officials are already planning for the worst when it comes to search and recovery.
