A Worthwhile Cause

bhroweb.jpg

CLICK HERE to read up on and donate to a very worthwhile cause!

"Our purpose:

To place abandoned/unwanted basset hounds in suitable, loving, permanent homes.

What we do:

All basset hounds who come into our care are spayed/neutered, provided with any necessary medical care and brought up to date on vaccinations.

They are loved and cared for in a foster home where their personalities and individual needs are assessed. They are then placed into suitable adoptive homes.

We do our utmost to ensure each basset is matched to the right family, but if for any reason the adoption does not work out, we require that the basset be returned to rescue… at any time throughout the life of the basset."

Kelly Osbourne's Fiancé Saves A (Dog's) Life!

wenn2348279ko.jpg

Kelly Osbourne's fiancé must be a real hero in her mom's eyes!

On Monday night, Luke Worrall rescued Sharon Osbourne's dog, Goldie, after seeing that she had been bitten by a rattlesnake!

Ouch!

Kelly updated the interwebs on Goldie's status via her official Twitter:

Good news! Just got back from the vet. Goldie is going to live.

She was bitten by a rattlesnake and thanks to Luke we got her there just in time.

We all shit ourselves and didn’t know what to do.

Luke was amazing, if he was not there I don’t know what would have happened!

Thank goodness!

Former O.C. star Rachel Bilson was spotted out in Hollywood on Monday with her cute doggie and a friend tagging along.

The gals and the pooch were then snapped as they left a restaurant.

But Rachel's feet must have been hurting, cuz she took off her shoes for a bit and walked around barefoot!

Uhmmm, nasty!

The Hottest Bitch In Town Is Stump!

ap-stump.jpg

Stump didn't come up short in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show!

The 10-year-old Sussex spaniel won Best in Show on Tuesday night, becoming the oldest dog to do so. Prior to Stump's victory, the oldest dog to ever win was an 8-year-old Papillon.

Handler Scott Sommer decided to show Stump only days before. He had been in retirement since 2004, after a smaller show victory. Shortly after leaving the ring, Stump became mysteriously ill, almost dying, and spent more than 2 weeks in a pet hospital.

Despite a 5 year absence, Sommer says that Stump "showed his heart out," much to the delight of the audience at Madison Square Garden.

Stump flew first class home to New York, where he will remain in retirement and live out the rest of his doggy days in peace.

Enjoying The Wind Through Their Hair Fur

lol-dog-02.jpg

Heidi Klum took a bitch out for a ride yesterday. Literally!

We can't decide who has the better hair, though. We think that the pooch could do with some shaping and highlights.

Is the dog not wearing its seat belt?!

For shame!

Safety first!

Even Ugly Dogs Go To Heaven

wenn19584202.jpg

Sad news.

The winner of the 2008 World's Ugliest Dog Contest has passed away.

Gus was a pedigree Chinese crested dog from St. Petersburg, Florida.

He was missing an eye, one leg, and was almost hairless.

Unfortunately, the 9 year-old pooch was suffering from cancer.

Gus was originally rescued from a home where he was being kept inside a crate in someone's garage.

His adoptive family says Gus lost his leg after it had to be amputated due to a skin tumor and he lost his eye in a cat fight.

Evil pussy!

As for Gus' owner, she had said the prize money from the contest was going to be used for his radiation treatment.

Poor pooch.

Rest in peace, Gus!!!!

Obama's First Press Conference Goes To The Dogs

puppies.jpg

With the country swimming in an economic crisis and California disappointing everyone with its blatant discrimination, the question on everyone's mind at President-elect Obama's first press conference was what kind of dog the First Family would adopt.

Keeping true to his endearing promise to daughters Malia and Sasha to get them a puppy if elected, the Prez-elect said "We have two criteria that have to be reconciled" - the first is that Malia is allergic to dogs and the second is that Obama wants to rescue a dog from the shelter.

So while the family needs a hypoallergenic dog, the only kind of dog available at a shelter might be "a mutt…like me."

The statement revealed Barack's more human side, and as the United States of America is a "melting pot" of different races and different cultures, we're all sort of mutts!

Poodles are generally considered more hypoallergenic, although everyone's allergies are unique, and Malia will probably have to see how she reacts to individual dogs. Additionally, there are many breed-specific shelters to rescue from.

There! Problem solved!
