Tom Apologizes For Calling Colin Fat

We couldn't help but notice that Colin Firth is looking quite trim these days. The actor mentioned that it was because A Single Man director Tom Ford told him to work on his physique, but Ford put it a little less gently to the media, saying, "I told him he was fat."

Well, apparently Tommy boy didn't realize the harshness of his words until he saw himself quoted! Feeling bad for basically calling the star of his film fat to the media, Tom reached out to Colin to apologize. He says:

"It's terrible. I emailed Colin about his…because you have to be so careful what you say to the press. The email to Colin said, 'Sometimes in life I can be a little overly blunt.' So I probably said [to the press], 'Colin, you're fat' - but I'm not sure I actually said that! I don't know and now people have picked up on it!"

As for Colin, the actor says he wasn't offended:

"[Tom] tended to handle me in 'honey' terms like, 'You look really great as you are, but if you want to get a trainer to come to your house every day I'll pay for it and it's fine.' That means you're fat!… I guess he did me a favor, giving me one final push in the war against gravity. I'm in my late 40s so it was probably quite helpful."

Well good for him, either way. Looking very good!
