What is with Australia and plus-size or even regular sized models!?
A contestant on this season's Australia's Next Top Model says producers asked contestants to lose weight!
Sounds like they were influenced by ANTM judge Charlotte Dawson who previously said there's no market for plus-size models in Oz.
16 year old contestant Alison Boxer, weighs 121 pounds, and is underweight by Body Mass Index standards, was told she needed to shed "centimeters from her thighs".
A rep from Fox8 isn't even denying the claim, saying Alison was also told to lose weight around her waist!
The show's talent scout Lizzi Leighton Clark says the show doesn't look for specific body shapes, but adds "at the end of the day you have to be tall and skinny to be a model. Hopefully, we have a range of body shapes, faces and personalities, but tall and slim is what works."
Do they not realize it's 2010 and non-emaciated models can get plenty of jobs? Just look at Laura Stone and Crystal Renn!
We think it's time for this show to get a Tyra Banks intervention!
