The Mexico-inspired collection caused a great deal of commotion after word got out that a pink nail polish was named after Juarez, a Mexican factory town known for the high number of rapes and murders of women between the ages of 12 and 22.
The images MAC used for their campaign were also unsettling as it showed ghostly women sporting the makeup.
MAC's new initiative will provide on-the-ground support to the women of Juarez and raise global awareness of the city's situation.
Both John Demsey, president of MAC, and the Mulleavy sisters issued an apology saying they were deeply sorry for offending anyone. MAC will also be re-marketing and re-naming their products.
We think they're doing the right thing. Do U???
