The cartoons come at a volatile time in french politics - the presidential election begins in April - and Karl plans on curbing his own personal feelings to provide witty, unbiased commentary in the form of humorous art.
Elle’s editorial director Valérie Toranian pursued Karl after seeing some of his sketches:
“Karl follows the political climate closely, he has a true interest for society…When Karl showed me his sketches, I thought, ‘These are great, we have to let other people share it.’”
The first sketch of the L’Oeil de Karl series (above) pictures all the presidential candidates huddled together in cozy clothing. The text reads:
“Wrap up warm and be careful not to lose your voice.”
We love when fashion intelligently fuses with politics. Karl, you show the rest of the industry who has them brains!
