Get Eco-Friendly With Vegetable Leather

Designers certainly are getting creative with their materials these days!

After researching what fashion would look like in 50 years and chatting with a biologist about growing a garment, London-based designer Suzanne Lee has come up with a completely biodegradable fabric called vegetable leather.

The fabric is made out of green tea, sugar, bacteria and yeast and takes about two weeks to grow. Once the process is completed, the "fabric" can be moulded, dried, cut and sewn to be used like any other fabric.

The only downside is the fabric will eventually harden or even rot after 5 years, but according to Lee "you can compost it down with all your other vegetable peelings."

Awesome! A little gross, but still awesome.

Check out the process (above) and let us know what U think!
