Ethan Hawke Covers Prestige Magazine Hong Kong

Ethan Hawke is an actor, novelist and a scholar! So why wouldn’t he get the cover of Prestige Magazine?

He looks professionally casual in all the photos from this spread. In the article, he talks about his upcoming projects and personal life.

On his upcoming projects:
The movie I did with Pawel Pawlikowski [The Woman in the Fifth] is a fantastic art film, I’m really proud of it. It’s a full blown“cinema as self-expression” kind of movie. Then Sinister is a full-blown, Friday-night horror film. Then I just finished this car-chase movie [Getaway], which is a kind of guns, tits and fire engines kind of action movie, and now I’m starting to make another movie with [Before Sunrise/Before Sunset director] Richard Linklater. So for me I enjoy trying to cross genres, trying to be in lots of different kinds of films. It keeps me excited.

On performing live:
I find it incredibly rewarding. There’s just something about it that for me, the older you get, it keeps you in the present. There’s something about film that is so immediately nostalgic. It’s always about capturing the moment or what was so special about what we did last week and how it is going to be perceived in the future. There’s something so immediate about working on stage. At its best it’s like a rock show. People who saw Jimi Hendrix never forget it and it’s different from seeing a YouTube clip of Jimi Hendrix.

On his kids having a famous dad:
They don’t care who I am. They get annoyed that I get recognised. We live in a culture where people think it’s such a great thing, to be LeBron James or to be Leonardo DiCaprio or Whitney Houston or Elvis. People think an amazing level of success is exciting but the truth is that it’s so destructive – celebrity, fame, power. A little bit of it is a wonderful thing, but it ruins lives. In some strange way I always knew I didn’t want to be Tom Cruise. It’s not that I didn’t want the work. I would love to get every director wanting to work with me because I could get the green light for their projects. But the price is too high. It’s just too high.

Ahh! So much seksiness in these pics! This issue is on newsstands right now, but in case you can’t get to Hong Kong, check out the pics (below)!
