Who knew that Kate Middleton's wedding dress would cause such a controversy??
During Wikipedia's Wikimania 2012 conference, a debate over female-related interests prompted a discussion over why the Wiki page for "Kate Middleton's wedding dress" is one of the lowest-rated topics in the Wikiverse and has been flagged for deletion several times.
With only 9% of Wiki editors being women, topics that are geared toward the female audience seem to be dwindling, while pages targeted to men thrive. Case in point, there are "over 100 articles on different Linux distributions" that are highly-rated as opposed to those that feature "some fluffy girl topic."
Although, come on now, the Sarah Burton-designed Alexander McQueen wedding gown is hardly a topic of "fluff." Putting things in perspective, Duchess Kate is a cultural icon and the events surrounding her royal wedding day, including what she wore, will be included in history books around the world.
And, let's be honest, there are so many women AND men who'd much rather read about Kate's gown then Linux, right?? Ha!
