Fashion writer Natalie Joos recently caught up with Scout Willis and delved into the recently arrested starlet’s life.
The older she gets, the clearer it is that Bruce and Demi's daughter will definitely help inspire some trends as she moves between styles.
Scout attends Brown University, but during the summer she’s living in a one bedroom sublet in the East Village and making sweet music with her band mate Gus Wenner. Together they form the group Gus + Scout and will be releasing a 5-track EP on August 20th at Mercury Lounge.
In her interview, the 20 year old let's us in on everything from her creative process to a hidden hobby.
On writing music:
"[It] is totally collaborative, and it’s done almost intuitively. You see, I don’t play an instrument so I will bring Gus a voice note on my phone with some lyrics and a melody and then we will finish the rest and he will figure out a guitar part… Writing music with Gus is a really incredible experience, we are very much in each other’s heads.”
On her secret hobby:
"I am one of those very secret arts and crafts people."
"I’m not really looking for a boy at the moment. I’m sort of into taking time for myself this summer. That said, boys who skateboard are a weakness of mine…"
On her style:
"It really depends on the day, on my mood, on the last film I watched, on the weather, what city I am in. I am a very sensory person; smell and texture are very important to me. There is always a sort of wantonness about my clothing choices that provide the thread that connects it all together. It is about whatever will make me feel the most beautiful and confident that day."
You can see from the pictures (below) of Scout in her apartment that she definitely has a vintage-y unique style. It’s always good to watch someone come into her own as she seems to be!
