Bill Blass is now hiring!
The brand's president, Scott Patti, went on a firing spree of Tyra Banks proportions last week, and the first to go was head designer Jeffrey Monteiro.
Once Monteiro was handed his walking papers, the team was informed the September 11th fashion show was canceled, despite the collection being 90% complete.
Brand spokesman Paul Wilmot explained:
"We are going to take a break this season and not show the women's collection. We are very happy with the editorial and all of the licenses are in place. We are going to re-evaluate and make an announcement in the near term."
After the shocking news, members of the staff were then brought in one-by-one where Patti told them they were "free to go" without any explanation or talk of a severance package.
So why the crazy terminations?!?
According to one former employee:
"A few months ago, rather than invest in buying more fabric to fulfill orders, the company opted to work with what was already in house and to only produce the styles that were being made for Lord & Taylor."
And not so surprising enough, after Bill Blass chose to use the fabric he already had, several stores canceled their orders.
Hmm…we think there's more to this story than meet the eye.
What do U think???
