Carine Roitfeld may not see herself as a beauty, but to her legions of groupies she's a style icon!
So we're sure they'll be delighted to hear the 58 year old stylist and CR Fashion Book editor recently sat down with Allure and opened up on fashion and her own personal style.
Here are some HIGHlights:
"I don’t like the word 'comfort.' Me, I like to be fitted. I like to fill my body into clothes. I don’t like it when it looks a bit squishy. I never like it."
"Fur is incomparable, sensual, and beautiful. Its true now with PETA, that its not the best thing to wear, but its very difficult to say I will never wear fur again. But you have to be aware of what you're wearing, where it comes from."
On her signature messy hair:
"Tom Ford always told me, 'Oh, the older you get, the blonder you will be.' But finally, I changed my mind and went to my real color… and the hair is usually a bit in the face. You know, its the same look for 25 years, but before, people were not interested in me. There were no bloggers."
On her signature makeup look:
"It's about eyes and eyebrows. Pencil for the eyebrows, mascara, a black eyelid applied with pencil and then smudged with my fingers. It gets better and better during the day. I don’t change it, I just add a bit more. Maybe that’s the charm of it. It's not perfect, its very alive."
You can read more on Carine's style commandments when the October issue of Allure hits newsstands on September 25th.
