Search and rescue missions for the small airplane carrying Missoni CEO Vittorio Missoni and three other travelers, as well as the flight crew, continued for the fourth day in a row on Monday.
On Sunday night, the son of Guido Foresti — who is one of the missing passengers along with Vittorio — received a text message that stated in Italian, "Call now, we are reachable."
Authorities have been unable to determine when the text message was sent and the phone has since been turned off, however, the message has sparked further hope for the families of the missing, and has even fostered a belief that the passengers may have been victims of a kidnapping.
Angela Missoni, Vittorio's sister and head designer of the brand, told Italian reporters:
“It’s better to be kidnapped than at the bottom of the sea. We hope all four are alive and well. We also hope that the searches go in all directions.”
Authorities are now following up any leads that may suggest a kidnapping has indeed taken place.
Whatever the case may be, we are still very hopeful that Vittorio, his wife, and friends will be found alive.
