Were you surprised that Michelle Obama wore Jason Wu again to the Presidential Inauguration Ball on Monday?
So was he!
"Mrs. Obama likes to keep her secrets. She surprised me again. She’s really good at it. I was so nervous. You’d think I wouldn’t be since I’d experienced it before but I really was."
Well, we're not surprised FLOTUS is good at keeping secrets. She has to be!
Understandably, the 30-year-old designer was over the moon that the First Lady chose his design over everyone else's, adding:
"I was just elated. It’s hard to describe."
We'd be jumping on couches Tom Cruise-style if we were him!
The woven faille gown features a white gold O-ring with pavé diamonds at the neckline made by jeweler Kimberly McDonald, and it will, of course, be donated to the National Archives.
Regarding his design process, Wu said:
"Like last time, I had to go with my gut. I instinctively had to think of the woman in the dress. After four years in office, I thought the country was ready to see a confident First Lady in red. It just felt right."
And it looked right, too!
