Mad Men has been on the air since 2007, but it was only recently that model Gita Hall May realized that the show was using her likeness in the opening credits!
The model filed a lawsuit against Lionsgate for using a picture without her consent, which looks like a Richard Avedon-lensed Revlon ad she did in the 1950s.
In the complaint, she says they’ve “generated income in excess of $1 billion through exploitation of the series and its episodes.”
The problem is that she’s suing the wrong company!
While Lionsgate produces the show, it’s Imaginary Forces who did the Emmy Award-winning titles.
It will be inneresting to see where this goes, because if it was for a Revlon ad, then she may have signed over her rights to the image.
