Get Ready, Ladies! Period Panties Are On The Way!

Thinx period panties

Say goodbye to embarrassing, bloody stains!

Did we just sound like a tampon commercial? Well, good, because we're about to blow your minds with extra protection.

Entrepreneurs Miki Agrawal, Radha Agrawal, and Antonia Dunbar have started (and successfully completed) a Kickstarter project that will srsly revolutionize the way women think about their periods.

After raising $65,000, they have launched a new line of lingerie called Thinx that is leak and stain-resistant, anti-microbial, moisture wicking, and most importantly, DURABLE for that messy time of month. Now, don't go getting your panties in a wad because they're actually really cute and lacy (above)!

The cool thing is that they come in several designs like the Hiphugger, Cheeky, Shapewear Comfy, which is a Spanx-like product AND listen to this, includes mini heating pad inserts for cramps! WHAT?!

Oh, and NAVEN is also getting in on the line, designing a limited edition lacy panty.

Why has nobody thought of this before?? Obviously, women have been having this problem for YEARS!

So, we say, BRAVA ladies, BRAVA!!!

    That's just weird.

For YEARS? LOL Don't you mean.. forEver?! Like for as long as women have been in existence? It is, after all, the hallmark of being a woman. Sure undergarments have changed over eons, but still, a mess is a mess. :-(
If they make some in granny panty style, I'm in!

Love the article! Go to to read more about our giveback! For every pair of underwear you buy, we fund the production of 7 washable cloth pads for girls in developing countries. 67 million plus women miss up to a week of school and drop out in Africa alone because they have nothing to prevent their "time of the month". They currently use sticks, leaves, mud, bark, rags, it's a HUGE issue that nobody is talking about because it's considered "taboo". It's 2013. It's about time it gets resolved right!?

Who has blood stains in his underwear these days? Protection is already good and people should learn this is something natural and nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed of - OMG!

    I think it's a great idea actually.

This is nothing new–there are plenty of brands of period panties out there. I do like Miki's comment above about giving back reusable pads to communities in need, though.

Thank heavens I no longer have a need for a product like this. But sounds like a good idea.

This is nothing new, Lunapads.com already has panties exactly like this and also donates cloth pads to girls in third world countries. Time for something that's actually original please.

Miki, while I appreciate your efforts with helping those in need of sanitary products, I doubt African girls from Cairo to Capetown use mud, sticks and berries to cover their periods. As an African girl, I can tell you firsthand that "sanitary napkins" are distributed and sold anywhere from the local markets in the villages to supermarkets in the city. As an entrepreneur myself, I respect your hustle, but stop fabricating nonsense and making us out to be some charity case, in order to peddle your product — m'kay? thanks.

    Re: matusadona

I also doubt girls from Cairo or Capetown have to use these methods, Matusadona, but not all live there. But many girls all around the world simply have not the money to buy those, e.g. in refugee camps or in very poor villages, and it is indeed affecting their education (see data: So, the campaign is not about YOU, is about those who need it, got it?

Re: matusadona – Please research before you make commentary. There is a HUGE problem around the world where sanitary napkins are not available. Maybe in South Africa but not in small rural villages. That's why AFRIpads was founded - to help women who don't have anything to protect themselves. 67 million girls have dropped out of school in Africa alone because of this, don't you want to help that statistic out? Beyond just being for women in developing countries, we made this underwear for women like YOU who may have had an embarrassing situation happen in your lifetime. We are innovating for you, us and for women around the world. Let's celebrate entrepreneurship instead of constantly trying to cut people down. Thanks!

Re: firebug666 – Sure, Lunapads may have panties like these but certainly not this level of quality construction, comfort and style, not to mention a product that actually works when you need it the most. Please go ahead and buy theirs and buy ours and you will see the difference. The proof is in the underpants.

Re: Valerie – Again, please buy the existing products in the marketplace and buy ours and you will see the difference in product.
