Following major criticism from rape survivors regarding Rick Ross's date rape-promoting lyrics on his U.O.E.N.O. track, Reebok has dropped the rapper from his endorsement deal with the brand.
And we bet that totally lame non-apology did not help Ross's case in the least!
"While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse. At this time, it is in everyone's best interest for Reebok to end its partnership with Mr. Ross."
After the horrible media coverage of the Steubenville rape case, not to mention the fact that the two boys at the center of it did not think they did anything wrong, we are SO glad that people are more willing to speak up against lyrics that promote sexual violence.
Hopefully, Mr. Ross and other artists will think twice before they write lyrics that can be "misinterpreted" as rape in the future.
