Sometimes beauty can seem frivolous, but it can also help bring some levity during times of grief.
A limited-edition green nail polish called "Sandy Hook Green" has been created by Sandy Hook Promise, a non-profit organization founded after the school shootings in Newtown, and manufactured by OPI.
The polish is not for sale, and OPI will not profit from it, but it will be given out to anybody who donates $10 or more at a Salon-a-Thon event being held at Ricci’s Salon and Spa in Newtown this coming Sunday.
Two Newtown moms whose children survived the Sandy Hook shooting came up with the idea to create the nail polish while getting their nails painted green after the tragedy as a method of dealing with their pain.
Green is symbolic because it is one of the two school colors at Sandy Hook Elementary, and has recently become associated with the gun control movement.
It may seem like such a small thing, but sometimes it's really the little things that help people heal.
