Eddie Murphy's Daughter Reveals Modeling Horror Stories! Talks Models Eating Cotton Balls To Stay Thin!

Bria Murphy talks about the dark side of the modeling world on Good Morning America

Is it just us or do these glimpses into the inner workings of the modeling industry keep getting worse and worse?

Model Bria Murphy, Eddie Murphy's daughter, recently divulged some horror stories of what she's personally seen and experienced in the fashion world.

And unlike her, it ain't pretty!

The 23-year-old made her confessions during a segment on Good Morning America, saying:

"Lots of girls get addicted to drugs and anorexia, it’s — there’s a whole list of things, because it’s a lot of pressure to be perfect. I’ve heard of people eating the cotton balls with the orange juice … they dip it in the orange juice and then they eat the cotton balls to help them feel full, because the cotton’s not doing anything. It’s just dissolving. And it makes you think you’re full, but you’re not."

WOW. That is all kinds of messed up!

Bria admitted that the pressure gets to her sometimes as well. She said:

"Oh yeah, absolutely … I’m a small girl naturally, but I can gain weight. And I’m going through little hormonal changes and my body’s changing and I’m like, 'Oh my God, I’m gaining weight this week, I’m losing weight next week.' It’s your job to go into a room … and some people will just say no without an explanation, and some will be like, 'Oh, your nose is too big. Your butt’s too big. Oh, your legs are flabby.' Like, they’ll just go on you, 'Oh, you need to tighten that up.'"

We can't imagine how hard it must be to hear stuff like this day in and day out! But Bria must have steel will because she's not letting any of that stop her!

She admitted:

"As I got older, I was like, ‘Bria, you can’t want to model and not want to be out there in — be the center of attention. So you’ve got to get over your little fears of putting yourself out there."

With an attitude like that, we bet she'll go far!

We wish you lots of luck, Bria!

I am so sick of models crying about what it takes to make it in that industry. They know that being thin is a prerequisite. It's not as if they're blind sided by that revelation six months into the job. Either stay skinny and cash huge checks for just standing there and looking pretty or get some education and get a real job. But Jesus Christ, quit crying about it all the time.

What is surprisingly offensive about this young woman's testimony is the sense that this was forced upon her, or even suggested to her by an industry player as something she should do to get work. I have worked in advertising and marketing for major entertainment brands for many years and I have worked casting with every major modeling agency in the business. When an agent tells a model to loose weight, it means eat better, go exercise. it does not mean put your finger down your throat, eat cotton balls, if you eat anything at all. There is such a ridiculously politically correct fear of saying anything against any body type in the marketing business, that it is hard for me to believe that she suffered a culture of weight loss hegemony. I do not believe it can be anyone but the self who drives towards self torture. Don't blame others, look within yourself and then get better. She is gorgeous no matter how big or thin.

You wrote, "When an agent tells a model to loose weight, it means eat better, go exercise. it does not mean put your finger down your throat, eat cotton balls, if you eat anything at all. "

…Have you ever thought about what happens when you say that to a girl that is ALREADY eating right and exercising?

On another note, I think her face is incredibly gorgeous. She is very beautiful!

when your job is solely about how you look then what the fuck do you expect? they paying you to be what THEY want so have every right to expect whatever they want. if you dont like it then go get a job that requires BRAINS and not just looks. Simple as that. and she dont look shy or insecure flaunting herself in those pics. she just mad coz she aint getting the big jobs. entitled cow.

wow you people have no empathy!!!! did you ever think that they're telling ALREADY THIN GIRLS TO LOSE EVEN MORE WEIGHT FOR NO REASON????

You're the same type who will see a model they deem too thin and start complaining about how she looks "anorexic," but won't have sympathy for all the pressure that the model goes through to look a certain way.

It shouldn't be impossible to work as a model and not have to deal with constant ATTACKS on your body.

    You assholes disgust me!

She shouldn't be a model, she's not pretty. Neither is Ireland Baldwin, or Scarlett Jagger, or Keith Richards daughters Alexandra and Theodora. Flipping through a fashion magazine is a jaw dropping experience, because models have become so UGLY. Let's go back to hiring beautiful models, regardless of their background or connections!

Re: liz – God youre stupid. they dont attack for no reason and wtf is an attack? telling somebody they nit thin enough is an attack? noits their honest opinion based on what THEY require the model to be. They paying so they can expect whatever they damn well want from models…fat or skinny! some designers only want curvy models with booty but I dont see anybody complaining about them being selective or discriminative!
