Rejoice and praise the benevolent fashion gods!
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana may have been found guilty of tax evasion and sentenced to 20 months in prison on Wednesday, but since everything is better in Italy, they won't have to spend a single day behind bars!
According to Italian law, sentences that are less than two years usually don't have to be served, and are more like suspended sentences, but if the designers are found guilty of any criminal acts again during that time period, they will then most likely see the spartan insides of a prison cell.
They do still have to pay approximately $668,650 in fines, but if their lawyers mount an aggressive appeal, which they most definitely will, the designers won't even have to worry about that!
Plus, who cares about a little over half a million when you were originally supposed to pay almost half a BILLION?!
We should all be so lucky!
D&G's lawyers are due back in the legal trenches AFTER the court's mandated 140-day summer vacay.
Oh, Italy, what a wondrous place you truly are!
