Anna Wintour must be losing her shiz!
According to a recent market analysis, Vogue may be losing its grasp on their loyal readers.
Ad Age just published 2013's Magazine A-List, which recognizes magazines for exemplary work, and the fashion bible is surprisingly M.I.A. from the top 10!
This comes as a shock to many who consider the glossy to be one of the more powerful publications in the fashion world, which begs the question: what the haute couture is going on!?
"There are hundreds of magazines in the industry and there are ten slots—rare do we openly say that one had a terrible year and that we should consciously keep it off the list. It’s safe to say that Vogue is the most powerful brand in the fashion category."
Lauren Sherman of Fashionista.com thinks the rankings makes sense, because even though the reach of Bon Appetit, which was ranked #1, may not be as great as Anna's mag, they are "what a magazine of the future may look like."
She says Vogue, on the other hand, is:
"Still very traditional when it comes to different projects. Elle’s marquee franchise programs [like Women in Hollywood] are a little more broad-reaching. This is supposed to be from the perspective of advertisers. And more women are interested in a Women in Hollywood list then they are in a list of up-and-coming fashion designers. You are reading Vogue to look into these rarified lives, whereas something like W is more about being a cool kid rather than looking at the cool kids."
The Girls star is certainly relatable and will hit a broader audience, which is something Elle has excelled at.
