Target Uses Maternity Model For Plus-Size Dress! Thinks Maternity Wear & Plus-Size Is The Same!?

| Filed under: Oops!Fashion SmashionSad SadTargetGIFs

Target is feeling the heat once again for using a maternity model for their plus size apparel!

Target just can't seem to get the whole plus-size thing right!

A while back, they came under fire for calling a gray plus-size dress Manatee Gray, while their equivalent standard size dress was Dark Heather Gray. See their apology HERE!

Guess they didn't learn their lesson, because now they're apparently using a maternity model for plus-size wear!?

It would appear so!

On Target's website, they're selling a "Merona Women's Plus-Size Short-Sleeve V-Neck Maxi Dress" modeled by what is obviously a maternity model. She even has a hand over her baby bump as if she's sending loving vibes to the embryo within!

Did they just skimp and not hire a plus-size model? Was it just a simple mix-up? We don't know, but we DO know it looks pretty bad for Target!

See their awkward blunder …AFTER THE JUMP!!!

As a plus size girl… there entire maternity/plus size section is mixed together. This doesn't surprise me as I often find plus size/ maternity on the same rack! Hopefully a public oops will get them in gear a bit…

I don't see what the problem here is. Aren't pregnant women "plus sized". I sure was when I was pregnant. Does it really matter WHY a woman needs to wear a larger size?

Target has the worst selection for plus size. A pal of mine was looking for a cute dress in the plus-size section. Hello. Thanks for these three racks of polyester stretchy crap. It's embarrassing. Walmart, though? Has far more. Still kind of scary here and there, but better.

As Ambs stated…both the maternity/plus size section is grouped together and a complete mess. It's horrible! I was recently pregnant and finding anything in the maternity section was a disaster. I tried some of the plus size clothes and I can attest that they are in NO WAY the same category. They are not fitted in the same manner. This is just offensive to both parties.

While pregnant, I purchased plus-sized and maternity clothing. Why? Because sometimes I liked the style options and they fit. This is a non-issue as I am sure that other women do the same.

Target could not make an uglier bunch of clothes for plus size. The regular clothes are more for petites/juniors. I am on the smaller size of being plus sized, so when I go to their selection of plus size clothes, it's like looking at sheets of fabric squares. Unflattering, no patterns, boring. I might as well sport a bedsheet around.
