Robyn Lawley is a gorgeous size 12 model.
In the fashion industry, she’s considered “plus-size”.
But considering that the average size of an American woman is a size 14, “plus-size” is a bit of a misnomer, no??
Robyn certainly thinks so, and similarly to Tyra Banks, she argues that the term “plus-size” should be completely banned in the fashion industry!!
During Milan Fashion Week, the beautiful Australian voiced her thoughts on the matter, saying:
“There is a need for all women to wear all sizes of clothes and we should cater to that need without putting a label on it. The name plus-size doesn't have any good connotation to it, and I don't want women to be segregated into particular stores. They have to make changes because it's not relatable at all. I love fashion but I can't relate to any of the models that they use, so a greater variety would be nice. I see something on the runway and think it looks good on her but what would it look like on me, because her body looks nothing like mine.”
We’re sure MANY women out there would agree!
And even though Tyra has taken to calling her average-sized models “fiercely real” on America’s Next Top Model, Robyn makes a good point; why call them anything different at all??
Some fashionable food for thought! Speaking of thoughts, what's your opinion on this?
