Get the story behind the 4-year-old who crafts amazing red carpet gowns out of paper HERE!

Mind = Blown!!!

An extremely talented 4-year-old girl who goes by the name Mayhem is undoubtedly a designer in the making!

Last year she began crafting gorgeous pint-sized gowns out of paper with her mom, and has been creating increasingly complex designs ever since!!

She’s mimicked dresses from award shows, fashion shows, and even outfits from her favorite movie characters using little more than paper, tape, glue, and various other household objects.

You can see how well she was able to recreate the stunning dresses worn by fashion icons Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong'o, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift (above)!

And while one might assume by looking at the craftsmanship that the dresses are mostly mommy’s work, that’s actually not the case!

Little Mayhem has even crafted some dresses all by herself when her mom is out of the house!!

Unbelievable!!!

Mayhem’s mother was recently interviewed about her clearly gifted daughter, and you won’t believe what she had to say!!

Get the fierce HIGHlights …AFTER THE JUMP!!!

On who comes up with the ideas for the dresses:

"The ideas are pretty much a 50/50 split, but Mayhem constructs a lot more than most people would probably believe. That's one of the best things about this project, I see her learning new skills every single day. At this point, she knows exactly how many sheets of construction paper she needs to make herself a top and a bottom. She can lay the entire thing out and tape it together all by herself. Definitely, the more complex designs have more of my time invested, but she's literally always beside me learning something new if she's not tearing or taping or gluing while I am."

On the materials that go into each dress:

"We use a lot of construction paper, but we also use tissue paper, wrapping paper, and gift bags. We have also used silk scarves, tulle, and aluminum foil. Basically, if we can find it laying around the house and it's pliable, it's fair game. Clear packing tape and glue are our adhesives of choice."

On where their inspiration comes from:

"We pull inspiration from wherever we go. The shark dress, for example, came as a direct result of her first visit to an aquarium. She also gets a lot of ideas from shows that she watches or books we read, like Minnie Mouse, My Little Pony and Elsa from "Frozen." Sometimes I'll Google images the day after award shows, so she can see the dresses worn on the red carpet and pick which ones she wants to make. We also leave a tab open on our iPad with a search for "project runway dresses" so that we can quickly reference those as well. She's never actually seen an episode of Project Runway, but I did show her a clip one time explaining that there is a show all about making dresses and I thought she might hyperventilate."

On if Mommy has always been crafty and if she was ever into fashion before this:

"No and no. I actually don't consider myself to be the least bit crafty. Don't ask me to build something out of popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners … you'll be incredibly disappointed! Cutting and taping paper is about all we do. And the most ironic part of this whole project is that I am literally the least fashionable person you will ever meet. In reality, I know nothing about fashion and cannot sew a straight line to save my life. A friend suggested I could start sewing these creations from scraps of fabric and I laughed at her. I'll take paper and tape any day over getting anywhere near a sewing machine!"

On if Mom thinks this is going to be a lifelong interest for Mayhem:

"After we made our first paper dress, Mayhem requested another the very next day. Then another the day after that. And no one is more surprised than I am, that she still wants to make them nearly 9 months later. I have no idea if it will continue, but as long as she wants to make them, we'll keep doing it."

OMG!!

SO looking forward to seeing where Mayhem takes her skills in the future!!

They're cute but I would like to see the one's she's created solo.

  2. 2

Key words - 'with her mom'. Why say a four year old did this?

Oh you mean her mom is an aspiring designer or person who wants to be famous and rich and is utilizing her adorable daughter to in order to gain notoriety. Why are there so many of these types of parents these days?

I have to comment….I absolutely love this family. Angie and her husband are FAR from a "fame whoring mother" (this one is for you Charli!) Mayhem picks out the dresses to make. She tears/cuts the paper - she makes her hats - she has made dresses of her own. She really is awesome to watch. Her little family is probably the nicest I have EVER met and so supportive of each other. It's a little disgusting that people have to leave such ugly comments on such a beautiful little girl and a mother who drops everything she is doing EVERYDAY to help encourage her daughter and her creativity. Not all of her dresses are celeb inspired. Some are super heroes…some are shark inspired and some are just fun colors she likes. So proud of them and so glad that they are getting recognized for being passionate.

Why do people have to be so hateful about this? Why can't anyone here be a little bit open-minded about it? Couldn't it be a possibility that she indeed takes over half of the project by herself?
Anyways, she is a cutie and super talented. And if you don't agree, good, just keep the hate to yourself

Another case of a parent pimping their child. It's disgusting. What is nice is that a mother can spend quality time with her child but please, let it end there, or it would not be worth your while then, Mrs mommy?
