I think they live on another planet, because from my point of view, fashion is an unnecessary luxury when still in 2014, people are exploited in their third world sewing factories.

I agree. Her designs are not innovative. Her designs are nice, but I have seen them before done by other brands. When you see a Galliano dress or an McQueen, the look is distinctive.

D&G are right and also not right. They are right cos "designers" are mainly those who has always worked with clothes, they started with clothes and that's all they do (until they branch out to homeware, restos as did D&G, and hotels like Versace & Armani), they do major presentations at Fashion Week featuring mostly works of art (yup, hear me out) and then they tone done a bit for when they resell their clothes as a pret-a-porter.

Now then that being said, D&G is incorrect in saying Victoria Beckham isn't a designer, she is a designer, just like I would say Stella McCartney is a designer, I mean, even McCartney has done a bit more risqué clothing in her designs, it's just that what you see is what you get, you see them present at Fashion Week, that's what I'll see too in their Ateliers or shops etc, there isn't much room or space for imagination unless u accessorize and that's a different thing. Beckham is a great designer of wearable, highly classy, POSH women's clothing and she's come a long way, though it won't b what you will call high fashion (ball gowns? red carpet events?) you would go to someone who will push the envelope with the designs and what one can wear in her most glamorous, ie, you will have to run to what D&G referred to as "real" designer.

I know what they are talking about. I went through fashion/costume/textile courses and it was my first career choice where as they are simply pointing out that this is something that has come later on for Victoria. Their ideals and approaches to fashion are bound to be very different. Personally I dont think that Victoria pushes boundaries or creates anything majorly interesting. Thats the difference. Fashion designers are innovative and lead fashion trends and then you have places like zara etc which follow trends and Victoria uses basic classics to achieve that. Thats no to say she's not good at what she does but there is a big difference, to me anyways.

Couldn't agree more. When I look at Galliano there is just genius, that's what domenico and stefano are saying, in a way you are born an artist, you can become one but never with the same kind of fantasy, genius….anyone can make perfectly tailored suits, it's the 21s century for god"s sake but no one can replace a galliano, saint laurent, valentino…
