Victoria Beckham today is a widely respected fashion designer, and her chic attire can be spotted on red carpets and in magazines all over the world.
This month, the mother of four has even landed the cover of Business of Fashion magazine, and looks like a total boss on it at that!
But as you may recall, things weren't always that way for her.
When the former Spice Girl first gave up her career as Posh Spice to start her own fashion label, she was mostly laughed at. Victoria even admits to the mag:
“For a long time there, I was a bit of a laughingstock. And while everybody was busy laughing, what was I doing? I was laying the foundation to what I have in place now.”
And that foundation seems to be a sound one, because her $50 million in sales from 2013 is no laughing matter.
So how did the pop star win the fashion world over? Miz Beckham did use her fame to her advantage when necessary, but mostly just worked her butt off until she succeeded.
David Beckham’s wifey explained the role of celebrity had in her success, saying:
“It’s a double-edged sword really. The most valuable part of being famous is that you have a voice and people will listen. I mean I can get a lot of attention. I don’t have to rely on advertising campaigns. But I don’t like to use that card very often. I like to keep my head down, work hard, focus on what I’m doing business-wise. I like to try and control how much I’m seen. I don’t want to go out and be photographed every day, you know. So, I think that as much as one might say, ‘it has helped,’ I’m not so sure. I’ve had to overcome lots of preconceptions, and that’s okay.”
Overcome them she did!!
And all's well that ends well, right??
There's no denying her success at the present moment, no matter what Dolce & Gabbana say behind her back.
The numbers don't lie, people!!
