Ann Taylor Claims They DIDN'T Photoshop This Model's Body After Massive Backlash — But We're Not Totally Convinced! Are You??

Uhhhh….

Ann Taylor, are you seeing what we’re seeing??

The fashion label came under fire a little while back for one of their bikini photos (above), in which a model’s upper torso appears to have been shrunken significantly smaller than her waist.

They have since removed the image from their site, but not without pleading innocence:

"The photo in question was actually only minimally retouched to remove a tattoo. Admittedly, the photo highlighted the model at an awkward angle, making it look as if there had been significant retouching. That was not the case. You can see in the original photo the shape of the model is consistent, and the retouching was simply to address the tattoo and not the shape of the model. Because the photo could be perceived as significantly retouched, we have replaced the shot on our website. At our heart, we are a brand that is about making women feel more confident and stylish. The LOFT team is personally committed to making sure our product and marketing live up to brand promise."

Hmmm…

Interesting explanation!

And this definitely isn't the first time mysterious photoshop mutilations have surfaced on Ann Taylor's site, so we don't know if we buy it.

Check out the photo Ann Taylor is calling “untouched” and judge for yourself …AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Let's just go along with their excuse (lol).
Who in their right mind looked at this pic and decided to use it?!?! The picture is horrible, and it is deff not a good way to sell the bikini.

The girl is skinny with wide hips. As someone who also is quite slim with wide hips I can tell this isn't photoshopped. Why do people think everyone is the same?

Re: bravecape – Then you must be a very bad photographer. The photo is NOT photoshoped.

When I was anorexic I looked exactly like that (except significantly shorter lol) and that is very realistic. If you flex and lean a certain way, you look like that with your hipbones sticking out especially.

The problem with size in fashion/ads ISN'T that they're "photoshopping too much", it's that the models themselves are so underweight (and that is what has become the unsafe body ideal).
if they use photoshop, it's more to airbrush OUT the bones, ribs, and emaciation. the more you know~*~*~*~

I'm a graphic designer and this is just my opinion but it appears that the lower abdomen and arms are the original images and they replaced the rest of her with another image. The tint of the skin, shading, angles and her muscle tone don't line up at all. The did airbrush the tattoo and skin creases away but it is definitely 2 images put together, very poorly I might add. Don't these Photoshop Artists actually review the work or do the Creative Directors review it? They should hire me. I check my work to make sure that doesn't happen.

it's not that weird, she is leaning left therefore making the waist curvier on that side, it's just a bad photo that they shouldn't have used. Her hand makes it look weird because it looks like there's a huge size gap between her pelvis and her waist. This is very possible on skinny girls because their hipbones stick out, and leaning to the left makes the right bone not stick out as much, while the left one sticks out even more. Trust me, I'm in med school :) )

are you fu**ing kidding me? it's not two pictures at all. You either need a new monitor or glasses… pssst graphic designer …

She's slouches so it emphasises the curve more and she obviously has hips so of course it's going ot stick out more in her pose, it's just unfortunate her arm is covering the link.

This seems more a problem for the model, who should know her good angles. My upper body is also less wide then my hips. And if I would stand like that and cover the middle up with my arm it would look the same. She just has an awkward position, that's all.
