Former Dior Designer John Galliano Ready To Move On From Anti-Semitic Past With 'Best Collection Yet' — Think He Can Do It?
But it looks like he may finally be getting back on track.
"I have yet to design my best collection. The new Galliano will be even bigger and better."
Considering all the iconic collections he's already designed for Dior, that's quite a bold statement to make, but we would love to see him give us something even more memorable!
He is currently serving as the senior creative director for Russian cosmetics company L'Etoile, and he also spoke about how much he still enjoys his work, saying:
"I love working, it's my therapy. I can draw until four in the morning every night and not feel tired. I'm driven by the creative process. I'm interested in theater, cinema and haute couture."
Of course, talk also turns to his hateful, anti-Semitic remarks that night at a Paris cafe. He explained:
"What happened was a defense mechanism. I repeated a pattern I had known as a teenager, and I was under the influence of an explosive cocktail of drugs and alcohol. I don't want to make up excuses, simply to try and explain what addiction can do to a person. I felt provoked."
John can never take back what he said, but it seems like he is in a far better place, and that he's truly learned from his mistakes. He said:
"The last three years have taken me on an incredible journey. I've come face-to-face with my demons, medicine and alcohol. I have rebuilt myself again. Thanks to my therapy sessions, which I've been having ever since going to the rehabilitation centre that cured me, I'm more in touch with my emotions. Anger, fear, rage. I was angry with everyone except for myself… What I've done will never be forgotten, but I regret it."
We hope he continues on his journey to heal and make amends, and we wish him the best.
