Finally! And, wow!!!
We had a feeling this would happen, and we couldn't be happier!
Lupita Nyong'o has landed her first Vogue cover for the magazine's July issue, and it's FLAWLESS!
The actress wears a vibrant Prada dress on the cover, which is perfect for the summer season. But the spread has even more splashes of color!
Lupita poses at a spa and bazaar in Marrakech, even facing a cobra head-on in one shot! Our favorite, though, is most likely the sensual image of the beauty in a tub filled with red roses.
The actress of course talks about fashion in her interview, admitting that she's always had a love for it. She even designed her own prom dress! She said:
“It was a velvet miniskirt with a matching little top and an iridescent silver translucent fabric that flowed to the ground. It was kind of ridiculous, but it was fabulous at the time.”
She also described the hours-long process of fittings for award shows, saying:
“It’s a job; it’s work, you know! We’d just try, try, try, try, try, try, try. At first it was very daunting, but I ended up really having fun with it.”
According to the 31-year-old, a lot of times choosing a red carpet dress is instinctual. She said:
"[F]or the bigger awards, the dress let me know it was going to be worn. It’s quite scary when you fall in love with a dress, because it’s nothing to do with your brain. It’s like a gut reaction. Nothing can prepare you for awards season. The red carpet feels like a war zone, except you cannot fly or fight; you just have to stand there and take it.””
It's a "war zone" she's handled with grace and courage, and we can't wait to see her back there!
