Have you ever thought to yourself, "Man, those designers in the fashion industry are animals!?"
Well, it doesn’t matter if you thought it or not, because now they actually are!!
A Japanese zoo decided to take a creative approach to the distressed denim trend by wrapping toys for lions, tigers, and bears with denim. The resulting chewed, bitten, and clawed fabric was then stitched together to make some animal-distressed pants!
The blurb on the website describes:
“Zoo Jeans are the only jeans on earth designed by dangerous animals. We first take their favorite playthings — old tires and giant rubber balls — and wrap them in sheets of denim. Then we return them to the animals and let nature run its course. The animals roar, gnaw and claw at their toys, and when they’re done we gather up what’s left of the damaged denim. It is from this unique fabric that we make the jeans. So the wild rips and tears in Zoo Jeans have been created with pure animal instinct.”
The fab pants were then auctioned off, with proceeds going to the zoo and the World Wildlife Fund.
The auction ended yesterday, with some of the pants selling for over $1,200 dollars!!
What an AH-mazing idea — hopefully they'll try it again soon!
