Well, the dress has been found ... to be a fake!
The thief who took the gown says he took the dress from Lupita's room at The London after finding the door ajar.

First of all, it's kind of shocking that Allure magazine had the audacity to call anyone basic, especially in light of the word's current connotation!
When someone uses "basic" to describe a person these days, they're most likely referring to the term "basic b*tch" — which, in case you were unaware, is not a compliment.
But despite all this, Allure decided to label Lauren Conrad as "basic" in one of their articles, describing her in the accompanying blurb as follows:
“Made famous by Kreayshawn, and viral by YouTube, the Basic woman is remarkably unremarkable. What’s noteworthy about her style is its very plainness. Except to her. She swears those red soled shoes are cutting-edge. Hairstyle: Blowout or sausage curls. Jeans: Skinnies. Smells Like: Vanilla-cupcake body milk. Nails: Essie Ballet Slippers.”
Unfortunately for Allure, L.C. definitely saw what was written about her…and she's not moping about it either!
Instead, the fashionista sassily tweeted:

Nice that she can have a sense of humor about it! Clearly she's not lacking in self-confidence.
But SRSLY though, what was Allure thinking??
