Even months after its Grammys deubut, Pharrell's hat continues to surpass its limitations as a mere head covering!
First the hat was all the buzz on social media for weeks, then it helped Pharrell win "Hat Person Of The Year", next it took on the red carpet at the BRIT Awards as its own entity, and finally Arby's bought it for $44,100.
And now, it's set to have its own stinkin' museum exhibit at the Newseum!!
The incredible Vivienne Westwood piece has come so far!
An Arby's rep explained why they felt the hat belonged in a museum, saying:
“The post-Grammy’s Twitter exchange between Arby’s and Pharrell about his hat was completely unexpected and has just become this remarkable moment in pop-culture this year. It goes to show the power of social media in its ability to create news.”
A spokesperson for Newseum felt the same way, adding:
“The stories visitors experience in the Newseum illustrate historic and contemporary moments as seen through the eyes of the media. Pharrell’s hat is a great addition to the Newseum and will serve as a great example of the impact of social media today.”
Sounds like the hat will make a GREAT exhibit!
Arby's was happy to loan the headpiece to a place where it'll be displayed in all its glory, and even created a fun Vine to spread the message about the hat's new temporary home.
