Guess Elisabeth Hasselbeck will still be getting the heave-ho from The View, after all!

Just not as quickly as Barbara Walters would have originally liked, apparently!

According to sources close to the long-running talk series, the iconic journalist was LIVID when news leaked about her conservative co-host's impending exit, and to attempt damage control, went on air last week to deny the reports!

However, insiders maintain:

Even though Joy Behar has announced she’ll be leaving The View, the execs over at ABC still have until August to search for her replacement!

Now that Barbara Walters cleared up that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is indeed staying on the show, it sounds like they are currently looking for another conservative to be on her side!

And not just any conservative, but a conservative Latina at that!

One of Joy’s potential replacements include Rachel Campos-Duffy, a strict Catholic and Republican, who has six kids and was on the Real World: San Francisco!

She’s also married to a Republican congressman and tried out for the show back in 1999!

Another name that’s popped up has been Jaci Velasquez, who is 33 and married with two kids, along with her own radio show!

As for our favorite person possibly in the running??? Gloria Estefan! We would LOVE to see her on the show!

However, it sounds like they won’t be filling Joy’s spot just yet, as an insider stated:

Now that Joy Behar is an official goner (tear), The View needs a fun new replacement!

Especially since Elisabeth Hasselbeck may or may not be leaving on her own accord soon enough, we have a feeling Barbara Walters might need some help choosing the noobs.

We were purely speculating when we said that with Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and possibly even Barbara Walters leaving The View after this summer, the long-running talk show might be heading toward a reboot when their replacements are inevitably announced!

But in light of recent alleged casting news, we'd say that it definitely seems like that's the direction ABC executives will be taking!

According to network sources, Brooke Shields is in serious discussions to take a spot on the panel alongside leftover Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd after the current line-up calls it a day!

Following the news that Joy Behar - and possibly Elisabeth Hasselbeck - will be departing The View this summer (guess which one by choice?) it appears that one more lady on the ABC gab-fest may not be sticking around much longer!

According to network insiders, the creator and executive producer, Barbara Walters, is seriously considering throwing in her hosting duties, and as disappointed as we are to hear it, we can't say we blame her!

She's 83, after all!

And while she's normally at the top of her game even at that age, she's been pretty sick lately, only having just re-joined the panel this week after recovering from her January fall and battling the chicken pox!
