A woman days away from giving birth was found barely breathing on Saturday after she was hit in the head by a bolt of lighting.

After being struck in a Fort Myers, Florida community living center, Meghan Davidson (pictured above, with husband Matt Davidson) was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment — and to deliver her baby to avoid further complications.

Local press reports that the 26-year-old and baby Owen were initially both in critical condition, but Davidson's condition has been upgraded to serious.

Hospital officials are not releasing information on Owen's condition, but family members say the infant is being monitored closely.

The mother's fellow church member Carol Bridges told NBC2 that medical officials "have lowered the amount of oxygen that she is getting and they have lowered the sedation."

Davidson, just a week away from her due date, was walking with her mother at the time of the incident.

She and husband Matt have two other young children.
