Mass shootings have unfortunately become a common occurrence in our society, making headlines on what seems to be a regular basis.
In the new short film Obituaries, James Franco tells the story of a school shooting in hopes to add to the conversation of the much-too frequent tragedies.
The NSFW drama, written and directed by Ryan Moody, tells the story of the aftermath of a school shooting that leaves six people dead. Their obituaries, narrated by Franco, detail their lives, faults, hopes, and dreams.

The director explained that the film aims to dissect how our society processes the complex emotions that come from these devastating incidents.
Speaking to IndieWire, he said:
"I wanted to make this film because I believe that these types of tragedies are becoming more prevalent in our culture. I wanted to take a closer look at how we, as a society, process the fear, the anger, the sadness, and the apathy these incidents bring up."
