"For those of you tuning in to see my interview with Louis C.K. tonight, I have some bad news. Then I have some really bad news."

With those words, Stephen Colbert did his best Thursday night to keep things from getting too awkward after C.K.'s Late Late Show appearance was canceled at the last minute.

At least after a lengthy prepared monologue on the attempted statutory rape allegations against Republican Senate hopeful Roy Moore, it was kind of an easy segue to explaining:

"Louis canceled his appearance here tonight because The New York Times broke this story today: five women are accusing Louis C.K. of sexual misconduct."

Things must have been even more uncomfortable behind the scenes as Colbert and C.K. have known each other for years, having worked on the short-lived Dana Carvey Show over 20 years ago, long before finding their individual success.

louis ck cancels movie premiere ny times expose

This does NOT bode well for Louis C.K.

It appears the comedian's New York premiere for his new movie, titled I Love You, Daddy, has been canceled amid reports that a New York Times exposé is about to drop. The event, which was to be held at the Paris Theatre, was axed mere hours before it was supposed to occur.

Reps for the premiere simply cited "unexpected circumstances" as the reason for the industry event's cancellation. C.K.'s upcoming appearance on Stephen Colbert's The Late Show has been nixed as well.

We can only imagine the reported Times exposé has something to do with the years worth of gossip about Louis and sexual misconduct. Looks like we'll be refreshing the Times homepage for the next few days

Jimmy Fallon is sticking to his guns…

In a sneak peak of his interview with Willie Geist on Sunday Today, The Tonight Show host is defending his lack of Donald Trump coverage as he doesn't "care that much about politics."

The comedian said:

"It's just not what I do. I think it'd be weird for me to start doing it now. I don't really even, you know, care that much about politics — I've got to be honest. I love pop culture more than I love politics. I'm just not that brain, you know?"

In fact, the 43-year-old doesn't mind that the other late night hosts are capitalizing on political humor.

"I think the other guys are doing it very well, [Stephen] Colbert's doing great — I mean, that's what he's good at. He's great. He's always into like, political comedy. I think when it's organic, I'll dip into it as well. But I've always made jokes about the president — we've only had [Barack] Obama but I made thousands of jokes — I remember having him on the show and saying, ‘Sorry, that's my job. I have to do what I have to do."'

While Trump offers plenty of "material," it doesn't always translate to comedy.

"But with Trump, it's just like, everyday is a new thing. He gives a lot of material — a lot of stuff is hard to even make a joke about, because it's just too serious."
