When Miley Cyrus invited Jesse Helt to take the stage in her stead at the VMAS, it was to share an important message about youth homelessness.
But it turned out there was a darker side to Jesse's story - he was a wanted man!
Miley was understandably upset by the uncovering of this news, but it seems Jesse is proving himself to be a young man of some character.
According to the police in Dallas, Oregon, Jesse has turned himself in to authorities!
He was then released on $2,500 bail, and instructed to appear at a hearing in two weeks.
Because Jesse's arrest warrant was just for violating his probation after already pleading guilty to trespassing, we're guessing the court won't be too tough on him.
Miley has offered to help in any way she can, even paying his legal fees! What an amazing friend!

We like what we hear.
Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani teamed up for a ballad together, and you know what? It actually works!
In a clear marketing move to promote the upcoming seventh season of The Voice, the Maroon 5 and No Doubt singers came together to sing the new song My Heart is Open.
Still not convinced that an Adam-led ballad would work?
Well, how about knowing that it was written by Sia.
Everyone's favorite Australian singer lent her talents to Adam and Gwen, and we think they both owe her big.
My Heart is Open can be found on Maroon 5's new album V, which we got a preview of at the VMAs!

The VMAs had a few standout moments this year, but nothing TOO crazy.
For instance, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora's performance of Black Widow was pretty flawless; it just wasn't unexpected.
But that's not for lack of trying! Rita told The Sun newspaper she had an idea that would bring their femme fatale number to a whole other level!
What was this twist? Lesbian lip action! Rita said:
Were you concerned that Nicki Minaj's performance at the MTV Video Music Awards wasn't racy enough??!
We definitely got enough booty and boobies, but it is now being reported that MTV very strategically filmed the performance to avoid outrage!
Since the backlash of Miley Cyrus' near-nekkid twerking, MTV let Nicki be as raunchy as she liked, but they made sure to keep the camera waist up.
And the results were parent-approved!!!
Melissa Henson, director of the Parents Television Council, said:
Hot damn, she gets better looking with every picture!!
Though we've always thought this singer was flawless, Demi Lovato has very publicly dealt with body dysmorphia issues and eating disorders…
So when she posted a heartfelt and crushing message about how happy she was after seeing her bodacious body at the 2014 Video Music Awards — we couldn't be more thrilled for her!
The Made In The USA singer took to Facebook last night, expressing mixed feelings about a collage of transformative award show looks (which you can see HERE) she gathered to show fans.
In the emotional post, Demi revealed:
This makes us so happy!
Our two favorite ladies in the rap game have been under some fire recently for a feud that they claim was never there.
Well, now it looks like all those fighting rumors can officially be put to rest because Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea have video evidence that they get along just fine!
After Nicki's stellar VMAs performance of Anaconda, Iggy complimented the singer backstage telling her she did a great job and not to worry about her wardrobe malfunction.
We love it!
Performing at such a huge event must be really taxing, especially doing so three times, so we bet Nicki loved hearing words of encouragement from the Australian rapper.
